Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is pediatric occupational therapy and how can you help my child's development?

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping kids develop or enhance the skills they need to participate in their occupations - Play, self-care, and being a student are examples. Sometimes there is a bump in the road with development limiting or preventing participation in various areas. OTs work with you and your child to improve their skills, adapt, and modify these activities to allow them to function at their best ability.

What payment options are available to pay for OT services?

We provide various options for payment at Canvas Therapy LLC. We are a fee-for-service company. We accept private pay, FSA, and HSA. We also can provide a superbill monthly for you to submit to your insurance company.

How can I support my child between OT visits?

Caregivers are encouraged to attend as much of the session as possible to learn strategies to use daily to enhance their OT visits. Each session, the OT will provide "homework" for the child to complete as recommended. These are fun, engaging activities to help build the skills worked on in therapy. When these activities are followed, the child builds their skills faster and the outcomes are more efficient.

What is the process for starting OT?

Upon inquiry, a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation is scheduled. If it is determined that your child could benefit from OT, an email will be sent to the caregiver to create a HIPPA-compliant patient portal with the intake paperwork that will need to be completed prior to the evaluation. The evaluation can be scheduled in person at your home or virtually. Following the evaluation, the OT will make recommendations and if services are beneficial, the next session will be scheduled.
